About

Trois Pas de Côté began in 2016 with a campervan trip around Iceland, won in a video contest. Ten years and 39 destinations later, we picked the ten trips that shaped the blog and rebuilt each one as a 3D map you can explore: from Martinique to the Lofoten, from Chambord to the Canadian Rockies. On every map you follow our route, open the photos taken along the way and listen to the story, narrated from our own texts.

How it was vibe-coded

Each map is drawn by a small WebGL 2 renderer written for the project, with no 3D library. The relief comes from real elevation data, the ground from satellite imagery, the water from OpenStreetMap; trees, houses, boats, clouds and daylight are generated in the browser, and a little beagle walks the route. On the home page, the map morphs from one trip to the next on the GPU. The whole site is an experiment in vibe coding, built in conversation with Claude Opus 5.5 by an art director who doesn't write code.
